But things immediately go horribly wrong when their first informant is murdered after Mrs. Pollifax and her associate identify themselves. Even worse, Mrs. Pollifax has a feeling that her colleague is not who he says he is.

Even though she is by herself, she decides to try and check out the remaining informants on her own. She perseveres even after she learns that one of the original informants has been replaced by a deadly imposter.
