To help you know the order you can use to read these books, I have prepared a list of all the James Patterson books in order and those in collaboration with other authors.

James Patterson Books in Order: Private Series
This series about an international investigation company requires a bit more care in understanding the proper way to read these James Patterson books in order. That’s because in recent years there have been big differences between the US and UK versions of this series.
Up until Private Games in 2016 the publication orders in the two countries were the same. However, some books were released under different names and we’ve marked those books below with a ^. This is commonly done as a marketing tactic.
After Private Games, though, the publication order diverged with books hitting the market in different years depending on the country.
Below we have included the US order of publication with the exception of Private Rogue, Private Beijing, and Private Rome. These three books have not been released in the US yet, but it is possible to get your hands on a physical copy. keep your book list up too date i love reading your books and i love the story about you
Since i retired and started reading in 2016 i have gone through over 300 books and of which 102 were by James Patterson. Books are a large part of my life now at age 85.Thanks to all the great authors like James Patterson.
I haven’t read a whole lot, but of the ones I have, I did really enjoy them. They were all “James Patterson presents” books though. So I’m not sure if he had any involvement in their writing, or if they were simply published by him. Either way, the James Patterson name on the book does give me confidence now.
Thank YOU for creating this list for us! I found another site that was missing a bunch of the books that you had listed, but they had about 100 other books with the James Patterson name on them. I have gone through 30 in the last two months, and plan to read them all, now that I have retired. Thx again!
Have read every one of the Women’s Murder Club and have loved every one. Have #22 already on order. Also read so many others of his that I can’t list them all. By far my most favorite author
Hi there, from South Africa.
The library in the Retirement Village where I live has many of James Patterson’s books. I plan to read all of them!
Thank you for this comprehensive list. I have been reading James Patterson for over 40 years but it is still difficult to keep up with the numerous books he publishes each year.
What happened to Alex Cross’ fiancé, Christina Johnson and little Ali after “Pop Goes the Weasel”? And, does another book explain the sequence?
I read many of Mr. Patterson’s books, find them so packed with intrigue that I read one each week. There are so many to choose. Thank you.
Christina left Alex because she couldn’t handle his life. Later in Roses are Red, Christine gives Alex custody of Ali. In Merry Christmas, Alex Cross, Ali is not present because it’s said he is spending Christmas with his mother, Christine. Any additional information we have about Ali Cross can be learned from his own spin-off series.
My go to favorite suspense novel. Nice cup of tea comfy pj’s warm fluffy blanket pillows piled high and it’s up all night on another Patterson adventure. I’m handicapped and reading is my lifelong joy.
I came down with a leg problem and part of the treatment was lying down for an hour with my legs raised. First day I tried to just lie there and found that very bad way to do it. Where I live we have a community library where I went the next day to get something to read. I chose one of the James Patterson books and have not stopped reading them. I also decided to collect as many as I can and I’m up to 68 now. Most are the newer ones but I am trying to buy some of the older ones for my collection without much luck.
Not sure where you live but here (St. Catharines Ontario Canada) there is a place called Booksmart ( they have a website) which has many of the older books at reasonable prices and if you’re in the area they will deliver for free. Hope that helps
Have read about 70 of James Patterson books. Always a great read, difficult to put down. Love the shorter chapter’s style he uses.
Thank you for this list. I recently started reading James Patterson books. I love, love, love him. I am collecting as many as I can, and plan on reading them all. I love all of his books that I have read, but Beach Road is my absolute favorite.
You don’t have “Triple Cross” listed. Why? It’s after “Fear No Evil”.
The original title of Triple Cross was Cross Over, the title must have been changed either before or shortly after publication. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I’ve updated the book with the new correct name.
Thanks Branson! Your lists are the only one I don’t get “click bait” on. I appreciate that!
Why Bloody Valentine is absent of your list?
Why don’t you make with out listing the youth and hot shot l just your books
This list is the only one that’s comprehensive and doesn’t drag me down the nightmare “click bait” that so many other list sites provide.
Glad to be of help and that you enjoy the list!
james patterson sucks i have 49 of his books and i will collect and read many more but this is a rabbit hole of mediocre literature i wish on nobody
Your lists of James Patterson’s book is by far
THE BEST.
Thanks for keeping us informed.
James Patterson is by far the best author for intrigue and murder. I belong to a book club and I always say I like “murder and mayhem” and Mr. Patterson surly is the right author for that. He has the most interesting books you could ever read.
You’ve done a wonderful job with these lists. Have I missed it, or is there still not a list of all of his writings, fiction, nonfiction, bookshots, etc in publication order? Not lists separated by category, but simply everything he has ever written in the order in which it was released?
