Robert Dugoni Books in Order: Tracy Crosswhite & Complete List

Looking for the Robert Dugoni books in order? His catalog includes police procedurals, legal thrillers, espionage, historical fiction, nonfiction, collaborative novels, and standalones.

Most of his recurring series are best read in publication order because the relationships and consequences carry forward. The Tracy Crosswhite series also includes three short works, so I’ve included both publication and chronological orders for completionists.

Tracy Crosswhite Books in Publication Order

Tracy Crosswhite is a Seattle homicide detective whose career was shaped by her sister Sarah’s disappearance. The novels follow her cases, family life, colleagues, and long-running conflicts inside the department.

I recommend publication order for a first read. The numbered list below includes the short stories where they were released, while the notes identify the official novel numbers.

  1. The Academy (2014) (Short story)
  2. My Sister’s Grave (2014)
  3. Third Watch (2015) (Short story)
  4. Her Final Breath (2015)
  5. In the Clearing (2016)
  6. The Trapped Girl (2017)
  7. Close to Home (2017)
  8. A Steep Price (2018)
  9. A Cold Trail (2020)
  10. In Her Tracks (2021)
  11. The Last Line (2021) (Short story)
  12. What She Found (2022)
  13. One Last Kill (2023)
  14. A Dead Draw (2025)
  15. One Split Second (2026)

Tracy Crosswhite Books in Chronological Order

The strict chronological order moves all three prequel stories ahead of the main novels. The Last Line takes place earliest, but it follows Del Castigliano and Vic Fazzio rather than Tracy. I’d save this order for a reread or use it when you want every event in sequence.

  1. The Last Line (Short story)
  2. The Academy (Short story)
  3. Third Watch (Short story)
  4. My Sister’s Grave
  5. Her Final Breath
  6. In the Clearing
  7. The Trapped Girl
  8. Close to Home
  9. A Steep Price
  10. A Cold Trail
  11. In Her Tracks
  12. What She Found
  13. One Last Kill
  14. A Dead Draw
  15. One Split Second

Charles Jenkins Series

The Charles Jenkins books are espionage thrillers about a former CIA officer drawn back into dangerous operations involving Russia. David Sloane appears in The Eighth Sister, so reading the Sloane series first adds context, though the Jenkins trilogy can still stand on its own.

Robert Dugoni Anthologies

Dugoni has also contributed original stories and an essay to several multi-author collections. I’ve identified his contribution beside each title so reprints and anthology containers don’t look like separate novels.

  1. Cold-Blooded: Killer Nashville Noir (2015) (Contains “A Matter of Honor,” co-written with Paula Gail Benson)
  2. Odd Partners (2019) (Contains “The Last Game”)
  3. Trouble & Strife (2019) (Contains “Pleasure and Pain”)

One thought on “Robert Dugoni Books in Order: Tracy Crosswhite & Complete List

  1. The short story The Last Line (currently #8.5) should be be #0.25 or #0.75 in series as it’s introducing us to the early days on the force of Delmo ‘Del’ Castigliano (set in 1995).
Reasons for each of the two placements in series:
    #0.25: it’s set a year earlier than The Academy – current #0.25.
#0.75: it’s dealing with a very different set of characters than the other two short stories and not told from the POV of the series’ main character…What is your perspective on this story placement? Thank You 😊
