2 Ways to Read Natasha Preston Books in Order

There are two ways to read the Natasha Preston books in order depending on your genre preference. That’s because Preston’s books can be neatly categorized by either her young adult novels or her contemporary romances. However, you can also read her bibliography in publication order and follow the trajectory of her career.

About Natasha Preston

Natasha Preston grew up in small towns throughout the U.K. and did not always have the dream of becoming an author. Like many other modern authors, she discovered her love of writing through Wattpad. She has since published more than 20 novels at the pace of two to three books a year and become a New York Times bestselling author.

Preston writes within two distinct genres, either young adult thrillers or contemporary romances, which makes it easy to navigate her bibliography. The majority of her books are standalones or otherwise small series.

For both, however, Preston frequently fields inquiries from readers if she will continue the story with a sequel. As of now, Preston has no such plans for any of her works. Her series are complete and her standalones remain contained stories.

#1 – Natasha Preston Books in Order of Publication

The first way you can read the Natasha Preston books in order is the most straightforward way and that is by following the publication order. This will roughly demonstrate to the reader the trajectory of her career and is the easiest way to ensure that you don’t miss a book.

However, this will bounce between genres. Therefore, it may not be the best reading order if you aren’t interested in young adult thrillers or likewise not interested in contemporary romances.

Silence Books

This series marks Natasha Preston’s debut and she has said that the series is complete at four books. The first two novels focus on the story of Oakley Farrell and Cole Benson.

Oakley has not spoken since she was five years old but has created a special bond with Cole despite this hindrance. However, when it comes time for her to face the traumatic reason for her muteness, she isn’t sure if their relationship will withstand her past.

The third book shifts focus to Jasper, a character from the first two books, and will contain spoilers for Oakley and Cole’s story. Finally, the fourth title is a holiday-themed short story. This series should be read in order of publication for the best reading experience and to avoid spoilers.

  1. Silence (2012)
  2. Broken Silence (2013)
  3. Players, Bumps and Cocktail Sausages (2014)
  4. Silent Night (2014) (Holiday Short Story)

Standalone Books

Around the same time as Preston began publishing the Silence series, she also began writing standalones. For that reason, this is also a great place to begin if you want to follow the trajectory of her career but do not want to begin a series.

The below list will bounce between her young adult thrillers and her contemporary romances. However, the novels have been separated by genre further down in our second way to read the Natasha Preston books in order.

Second Chance Books

Still very early in her career, Natasha Preston wrote a contemporary romance duology. Each book follows a new main love interest, but the books are interconnected with the second couple making appearances in the first book.

Therefore, if you plan on reading both books, it is best to follow the publication order. At one point Preston had alluded to adding to the series with a third book, but she has more recently said that she will not be writing another installment.

  1. Second Chance (2014)
  2. Our Chance (2015)

Cellar Books

The Cellar duology is a young adult thriller and the rare exception of Preston returning to a world with a sequel many years later. In the first book, sixteen-year-old Summer Robinson is kidnapped and trapped in a cellar with three other girls as their time runs out. Meanwhile, the second book follows a group of friends, another kidnapping, and a looming threat.

The One Books

Finally, the most recent series by Natasha Preston is a contemporary romance series. The couples in the trilogy do feature throughout the series, so it is best to read these books in order of publication as well to avoid any potential spoilers.
