Category: Fantasy Book Reviews

Fantasy books are my bread and butter.

I love to read books from a variety of genres, but almost exclusively only write fantasy book reviews.

It takes a lot of forethought and planning to write book reviews without spoiling the story, and I find that when I read books in order genres, I tend to zone out and enjoy the ride. But with fantasy, my mind is always hyper analyzing every details.

Maybe it’s the writer in me.

Either way, I fantasy book reviews are some of my favorite articles to write. Especially for the more popular books like Crescent City, or really anything by Sarah J. Maas.

I love the discussion that comes from the community when we can all gush about a book we loved.

And with that short little monologue out of the way, I invite you to browse through some of my fantasy book reviews and see if you discover your next favorite read.

Twin Daggers by MarcyKate Connolly Review

Twin Daggers Marcykate Connolly Review

Full disclosure, I received an ARC copy of Twin Daggers from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I was a little late in finishing this as Twin Daggers published during my busy season at work and I fell off my review schedule for a few months.

Unfortunately, I DNF’d Twin Daggers.

I don’t normally review DNFs, and as …

Ignite the Sun by Hanna C. Howard Book Review

Ignite the Sun Hanna C Howard Review

Ignite the Sun by Hanna C. Howard is like sliced bread.

You know what they say about sliced bread.

XYZ is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Whatever you decide to put in the blank, it’s probably better than Ignite the Sun. But that’s not to say that Ignite the Sun is bad.

Quite the contrary.

Sliced bread is pretty …

Relentless by R.A. Salvatore Book Review

Relentless Book Review

Relentless by R.A. Salvatore was a duty, more than a delight. I’m sorry to say.

The Thousand Orcs by R.A. Salvatore was my introduction to fantasy and really the first book I’d ever read because I wanted to. Prior to that, it was all for school or incentives like free Pizza or some other bribe from my parents to get …

Timeless by R.A. Salvatore Book Review

Timeless Feature

Timeless by R.A. Salvatore is like riding the Tower of Terror at Walt Disney World.

If you’ve ever ridden this ride, ever stared at this ride while debating to ride it, or if you’re aware of it, then you can possibly relate to my example.

When you stand outside, debating whether to ride it or not, there’s some trepidation. You …

The Last Druid by Terry Brooks Book Review

The Last Druid Terry Brooks

You know the saying “It’s like riding a bike”? Well, The Last Druid by Terry Brooks isn’t that.

It’s more like learning to ice skate.

And while I suppose this could be said of any series after a year since you read the previous book, it seemed more pronounced here.

When Drisker Arc was first mentioned, I couldn’t remember who …

The Mermaid, The Witch, and The Sea by Maggie Tokuda-Hall – Book Review

The Mermaid The Witch and The Sea Book Review

Reading the Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea by Maggie Tokuda-Hall is a lot like driving through Texas.

Now, there’s a lot of ways I could go with this. If you’ve ever driven through Texas, you know what I’m talking about.

You know that moment you cross the state lines and your GPS tells you the next turn is in …

Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles – Book Review

Where Dreams Descend Book Review

Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles is the first book I’ve DNF’d (Did not finish) in a long, long time.

I was gifted an ARC of Where Dreams Descend from NetGalley, so thank you to Wednesday Books and Macmillan for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Let’s hope straight to the review.

Sisters of the Perilous Heart by Sandra L. Vasher – Book Review

Sisters of the Perilous Heart Book Review

I requested Sisters of the Perilous Heart by Sandra L. Vasher from NetGalley on a whim because the premise sounded interesting. It was fairly decent tale, and I’ll tell you all about it in a little bit.

Have you ever seen a Zonkey?

A Zorse?

A Liger?

Some of these animals sound like pure myth, but no one would dare …

Morning Star by Pierce Brown – Book Review

Morning Star Book Review

Reading Morning Star by Pierce Brown is kind of like watching America’s Got Talent.

Have you ever watched that show?

My wife and I are big fans.

Arguably, my favorite part of the whole show is the beginning. I love watched the auditions because some of the funniest moments in AGT are the awful people who try out.

The second …

We Are Blood and Thunder by Kesia Lupo – Book Review

We Are Blood and Thunder Book Review

I just finished We Are Blood and Thunder by Kesia Lupo.

They say first impressions are everything.

Whether you realize it or not, you cast judgement on anything and everything at first glance.

We see the outside of a restaurant that looks run down and we assume the food mustn’t be any good. We meet a new person who’s overdressed …
