If you’re looking for the Agatha Raisin books in order, I’d start with publication order. This cozy mystery series follows Agatha Raisin, a retired London PR executive who moves to the Cotswolds and quickly learns that village life isn’t as quiet as she expected.
The main series began with The Quiche of Death in 1992 and has continued past M.C. Beaton’s death, with R.W. Green carrying the newer books forward. I’ve included the novels, short stories, the R.W. Green continuation books, and the one main companion book so you don’t miss anything important.

Who Continued the Agatha Raisin Books After M.C. Beaton?
M.C. Beaton was the pen name of Marion Chesney, the Scottish author who created both Agatha Raisin and Hamish Macbeth. She died in 2019, but the Agatha Raisin books didn’t stop there.
R.W. Green, also known as Rod Green, was a longtime friend of Beaton’s and the husband of her former UK editor, Krystyna Green. Starting with Hot to Trot, the newer Agatha Raisin books have continued under the M.C. Beaton name with Green credited as co-author.
Agatha Raisin Books in Chronological Order
Chronological order is almost the same as publication order. The main difference is that I’d move Christmas Crumble and Agatha’s First Case to the beginning, since those two short stories work best before the main novels. After that, you can follow the series straight through.

Agatha Raisin Companion Book
There’s also one companion book for readers who want extra background on Agatha, Carsely, and the world of the series. It isn’t part of the main mystery reading order, but it’s worth knowing about if you’re trying to be complete.
- The Agatha Raisin Companion (2010) (Companion Book)
