As a result, many people were first introduced to Robert Langdon in The Da Vinci Code. This is also reflective of how the books gained popularity too.
While the first book in order of publication and chronologically is Angels & Demons, it was The Da Vinci Code which brought Brown international fame and recognition. So much so, that the Robert Langdon series is commonly referred to as The Da Vinci Code series now.
It is possible to read these books in any order and enjoy the mystery as each novel contains its own self-contained plot. That said, if you wish to read the books in the order that Brown intended, you should follow the publication order.
